Xianyang Museum
As one of the most famous museums in China, Xianyang Museum was opened to the public in 1962 on the site of a Confucian temple of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) after reconstruction and expansion. Xianyang was the capital of the Qin Dynasty (221B.C.-206B.C.), also a important city of the Han Dynasty (206BC-220). Accordingly, the museum mainly preserves the priceless culture relics of Qin and Han dynasties.
Covering an exhibition area of 1,100 sq meters, the museum features nine exhibition halls and a stele corridor. Exhibition halls one, two and three mainly show the historical cultural relics of the Qin Dynasty such as copper and golden coins, jade, pottery and the famous Qin bricks.
The fourth exhibition hall displays the paintings and calligraphies of contemporary famous celebrities. The fifth and sixth exhibition halls show the world famous Painted Terra - Cotta Warriors and Horses of the Western Han Dynasty. The 3,000 figures comprised the great image of the royal guards of the Western Han Dynasty, symbolizing the power and grandeur of the Western Han Dynasty. The seventh, eighth and ninth contain the biggest sitting bronze Buddha of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) in China. In addition, the newly opened Stele Corridor exhibits hundreds of ancient steles covered by marvelous calligraphy and carvings.
