Heavenly Lake

Heavenly Lake is situated in the Heavenly Mountain range (Tianshan), 115 km northeast of Urumqi. The superlatively beautiful crescent-shape lake lies 1980 meters above sea level and is hemmed in by the towering snow-capped Bagda Peak. It covers an area of 4.9 sq km,3.3 kilometers long and one kilometer wide on average.

The area is one of the few unspoiled places in China. The crystal water reflecting the snow-topped peaks, fluffy white clouds and blue sky create a breath-taking view. The banks of the lake are covered with lush spruce forest. Visitors will be struck by the grandness of the natural environment and to truly enjoy the splendor of the lake. And you can choose to stay in a traditional Kazakh yurt, which is an unforgettable cultural experience.

In summer, the temperature stays at around 20 degrees C. It is a real pleasant and comfortable place to go. It is not only a summer resort, but also a good alpine skating rink in winter. Coming from a glacier, the water of Tianchi Lake is pure and the ice surface is smooth. With a gentle breeze blowing most of the time, it is an ideal place for skating competitions.
