Yu Garden
The Yu Garden, also known as the Yu Yuan Garden, is a famous classical garden located in Anren Jie, Shanghai. The name Sansui is derived from the book History of the later Han Dynasty, and means 'propitious' and 'lucky'. It's reputed to be most popular natural landmarks in China. It is built between 1559 and 1577 by local official Pan Yunduan for Pan's parents to enjoy a tranquil and happy time in their old age.

Which contains several gardens-within-gardens? Emblematic of the gardening style of the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Yu Garden is a maze of pavilions, grottoes, lotus ponds, and rickety bridges crossing lazy streams.
Yu Yuan, elaborate in layout, contains inner and outer gardens. Five dragon walls subdivide the garden into six spots including Grand Rockery, Ten-Thousand-Flower Pavilion, Hall of Heralding Spring, Hall of Jade Magnificence, Inner Garden, and Lotus Pool. The garden is finely dotted with pavilions, corridors, and artificial rockery and streams. Besides, Three-Ears-of-Corn Hall, Hall for Viewing the Grand Rockery, Tower for Watching Waves, Hall of Gathering Grace, and Pavilion of Nine Lions are among the attractions of the garden.
The Yuyuan Market (also known as the Yu Garden Bazaar) is situated next to the Yuyuan Garden. Originally there was just a temple (the City God Temple) that built in the 15th Century. Today the area is also home to a lively market that specializes in traditional Chinese arts and crafts.
