Tomb of Xiangfei
The Tomb of Xiangfei is the most magnificent tomb in Kashgar, filled with history and symbolism. The tomb is commonly known among Chinese as the Tomb of Xiangfei, a Qing Dynasty Uigur woman who was seized by the Qing and forced to marry the Qianlong Emperor. However, the tomb is actually the tomb of her grandfather Bakh Hoja and his family (including Xiangfei), so it also named Abakh Khoia Tomb.
Abakh Khoia Tomb which an ancient Islamic building is located at the northeast suburbs of Kashgar, around 5 kilometers away form the city. It was first built in 1640 and contained 72 members belonging 5 generations of the
family.
It is a group of beautiful and magnificent buildings including the Tomb's Hall, the Doctrine Teaching Hall, the Grand mosque, smaal Mosque beside the gate,the gate tower, a pond and archard. The tomb chamber is rather mighty and splendid. It is the most magnificent and exquisite dome-style structure in Xinjiang. The walls of this chamber are decorated by green marble bricks with yellow and blue tiles enchased among them. There are colorful and beautiful patterns and apothegms in Arabic on those tiles. The gate of the tomb is located to the south of the chamber. The gesso flowers on walls of both sides of the gate are elegant and refined.
The tomb of Xiangfei herself lies on the northeast corner of the main tomb, with her name written in Chinese and Uigur. The tomb is covered with blue glazed bricks with beautiful patterns of blue flowers on a white background.
