Giant Pandas

The giant pandas are Chinese national treasure, also nature's gift to China.And Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Base is the best place to enjoy the beauty and loveness of pandas. The research base situates on the Axe Hill 10 kilometers from the north suburb of Chengdu City, covering an area of 600 acres, 96% of which is verdure.

Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Base was exquisitely designed to blend well with the natural scenery and imitates the pandas' natural habitat in order that pandas can live and breed in a perfect environment. Some facilities for giant pandas have been constructed such as a fodder room, sleeping quarters and a medical station. Also there is a Giant Panda Museum which is the world's only

thematic museum for rare and endangered animal species. The three main exhibitions are in the Giant Panda Hall, the Butterfly Hall and the Vertebrate Hall.

Other rare and endangered species such as black-necked cranes white storks as well as over 20 species reproduce well at the Research Base.

The Panda Breeding Research Base is a special and highly valued resource in Chengdu and has won the UN Environmental Program's award of the "global 500 best", and the gold award of green science and technology of China.
